Yesterday I visited Forches Cross primary to deliver a T-Shirt painting workshop. The group are due more workshops in the near future. The young people worked really well - these workshops are always great to see how people use the stencils for new ideas :)
Northam Youth Club is set to re open later this month - the new staff are due to be interviewed next week. We will be opening 2 nights a week, Mondays in Westward Ho! and Thursdays in Northam.
Northam Youth Club and Lewis Palmer (assistant youth worker in training) have both made it to the finals of the Devon Youth Achievement Awards; the awards event is on 28th June in Exeter at County Hall. Well done all of you!

We're doing T-shirt painting all weekend. We have mural painting where young people can come and add things... We have just got back from Potwalloping, hit by the harsh weather sadly :(
On the 3 days Jane led a carnival workshop for the procession today (Monday) - the theme of Potwalloping being the pebble ridge, the Potwalloping site has info on its history here - the group dressed up as a pebble ridge!
On the Saturday we made use of the sun - some young people from Northam Youth Club joined up with us to offer facepainting and T-shirt painting on the putting green. The young people wanted to be involved in this local event and are trying to fundraise for the club.
Thanks to everyone who helped out :) As usual click the images for fullsize and to browse the gallery.

We will be at potwalloping this weekend, mainly being run by young people from Northam Youth Club. Potwalloping is on the putting green at Westward Ho!
The following weekend is the Appledore Visual Arts Festival and we'll be at the British Legion Hall Thursday til Sunday - 4 DAYS! Check the flyer. If you have anything you want to show off, from artwork, to dance, rap or in a band then get in touch! We're putting together a timetable so that we can fit everyone in :)
We're doing this for fun, not hassle, so obviously no booze! The hall will be timetabled so different activities can share the space.

Yeo Vale School - mural by Barnstaple Youth Council
Written by Brian
Sunday, 11 May 2008
Yesterday we worked with the Barnstaple Youth Council to produce a mural at Yeo Vale primary. We worked on a design on a main section and the young people also put together another smaller version of it at the other end of the wall. It was an incredibly hot day - thanks to the young people involved for sticking at it, cutting and spraying to complete the walls.
In other news, things have been quiet with workshops but everything is even busier in the background with lots of big things in the works. We will soon be at Potwalloping festival, and we have 4 days of activities at Appledore Visual Arts Festival this year! It'll be a good laugh, with music, gaming and art. Lots of it...
Northam Youth Club is re-opening in the near future. Some of our youth workers also work at Hatherleigh Youth Club, where they offer competitive gaming (dancemat, guitar hero etc), sports activities, arts and outtings. A video from their paintball outting should be online soon.
